A picture of my altar. It looked really nice last night when I had my candles lit, so I thought I would share. :)

Left to right (starting in back):
Bast Canopic Jar (Not historically accurate, but my Goddess Anyway)
Candle
Death
Candle
Anubis Canopic Jar (Also not historically accurate, but my God anyway)

Right to left (in front):
Athame- Ash Handle, made by my ex's dad to match hers, just bigger
Skull with Arcane Symbols (resin, and I think made by Alchemy Gothic)
(Incense Burner)
Hornbeam Mug with Custom smithed handle

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. :)

None taken. :) To venture into Death Magic willingly takes a lot of sacrifice and is hard on you. It isn't for everyone.

Necromancy is highly misunderstood. I have not the time to sit and write it all out, but I do need to say a little. Modern-day Necromancy is NOT raising people from the dead of making zombies or animated skeletons. It is commonly accepted that graves and tombs should not be disturbed, and if they are, the corpse never, EVER desecrated in any way.

Rather, It's about communicating with those who have passed on / who's spirits still linger, depending on your belief system, and learning from them, possibly helping to move the soul/ghost/spirit onto it's next destination. Also, it's about taking the residual energy left behind (in graveyards and other places of death) by the dead and by the mourning of the dead's loved ones, and using it for spell-work. Think of it like recycling. Some witches' and wizards' powers are stronger (or they feel most at home) in the Spring and Summer, when the days are longer, the sun shines warmer, and life is abundant. Others of us feel more at home in the Autumn and Winter, when Death and the Holly King are a bit more prevalent.

Remember, there are always two sides to a coin. To have shadow, we must first have light. To have a sense of "light," we must have shadow to contrast.

Some might say what necromancers practice is evil and wrong, others still may say what we do is tame compared to others. I hope this was helpful, but I very much recommend doing your own research and coming to your own conclusions.
